Vision Day Community Meeting

Your Invitation to Our Vision Day Meeting!

SUNDAY, NOV. 20TH AFTER CHURCH

As we move forward from the Covid years, we have an opportunity to create the future for our spiritual community. The first step will be a congregational meeting on Sunday, 11/20, right after church.

WHY come to this meeting?

  • 1st: Food — A pizza lunch will be provided.
  • 2nd: The subject is meaningful and important — We will create the plan for the future of our community!
  • 3rd: It will not be dull, but participatory! We will have a quick-paced facilitated meeting in which we ALL can participate.
  • 4th: It will be efficient and to the point — It won’t take long to collect our ideas and then get them roughly organized.
  • 5th: We are doing everything we can to make this event more like a party than a meeting.

Our future is wide open. What will it be? That’s up to all of us working together. Please join us on November 20th, enjoy some pizza, and let your voice be heard.

The Gratitude Way

November brings anticipation of the annual Thanksgiving celebration and may spark a sense of: ‘What am I thankful for?’ What if gratitude is less a sense of thankfulness for anything specific and more a way of living, praying, thinking, and being?  This week at Unity, "The Gratitude Way," from songwriter and speaker Doug Benecke accompanied, as always, by the ever-musical Sallie Spirit.

Doug is a lifelong musician and student of the human spirit. He holds a religion degree from Oberlin College and works daily as an addictions counselor. Doug and his wife, Sallie Spirit, share talks and music at churches all around the Sound.

Lesson Planet

As another summer concludes, kids get ready to return to school.  But doesn’t learning continue year-round and lifelong for those on a spiritual path?  Aren’t our very challenges, our areas of difficulty, the syllabus of the Spirit?  This week at Unity, always in back-to-school mode with speaker Doug Benecke and music by Sallie Spirit and Doug.

Sacred Honor

America was founded by dedicated souls who pledged “our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor” to its establishment.  In the more than twenty decades since, democracies have found footholds across the globe.  Now, in a world more interconnected than ever before, democratic governments are facing threats.  As members of a free society and a spiritual community, what should be our response to attacks on democracy?  When is our sacred honor at risk through inaction?  This week at Unity, join speaker and songwriter Doug Benecke, as always, along with his musical muse Sallie Spirit, in exploring these questions.

"Working Class"

If we create our life experiences through our thoughts, then how do we change by working on ourselves?  If all of life is like a class in spiritual labor, then we may say we spend our days in a kind of “working class.”  These ideas explored in a talk by speaker and songwriter Doug Benecke, joined in music, as always, by Sallie Spirit.

A Book About God

In the words of Meister Eckhart, all of nature is “a book about God.” In fall and winter, just as in spring and summer, we may behold the Sacred daily in the natural wonder that is our birthright.  This week at Unity, we'll be reading the “book about God” found in nature’s rhymes and rhythms in this talk by speaker and songwriter Doug Benecke, joined naturally in music by Sallie Spirit.

Mother God

We often say “Father-Mother God,” but do we think carefully and distinctly about a maternal Sacred?  This week at Unity, considerations of God as Mother, reflections by speaker and songwriter Doug Benecke, musically supported, as always, by the divine feminine in his daily life, Sallie Spirit.
